"Organisms on our planet are constantly evolving. Evolution is a process in which species are lost through extinction and gained through speciation. It is a constant act of change and renewal. My pice Ēvolvere depicts the gradual process of diversification from one species to two—or sometimes more. The concept of cryptic species is especially highlighted. In the case of cryptic species, diversification leads to two or more species that are nearly identical in appearance and thus hard to differentiate. Ēvolvere should invoke a sense of renewal and challenge. Our world is diverse and constantly evolving, and sometimes we are forced to take a closer look in order to uncover beautiful, novel organisms hidden in plain sight."

The Art of a ScientistI made a series of 3 screen prints for the 2023 Art of a Scientist exhibit: Renewal.
These prints reflect my PhD research on cryptic speciation, and the beauty in all living things. |
